Viking SeaTech expands its UK marine department

UK growth plans

Two experienced oil and gas industry professionals have joined to strengthen the company’s core marine engineering competencies; a vital part of the firm’s 2015 growth plans.

Marine Manager Syed Shah has more than 25 years’ experience and over 75 rig moves. He is a master mariner and has worked across Europe, Asia and Australia. Colin Allan joins as a Project Engineer and arrives with a broad engineering and design portfolio, including projects with major civil and marine engineering firms.

John Dick, Viking SeaTech Regional Business Leader, North Sea Region, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Syed and Colin as we progress regionally and globally. We have increased confidence in the market and our customers have shown belief in our business focus.

“Our new colleagues will work closely with the existing team and I know together that their knowledge will help enhance our marine services and integration with client teams on current and future projects.”

Viking SeaTech recently secured contracts with Total E&P UK Ltd and Maersk Oil in competitive North Sea Region tenders. This month Chris Forde, Viking SeaTech Regional Business Leader, Asia Pacific, became the new Global Business Leader-President following the retirement of the previous incumbent.

The firm has plans to further increase staff numbers in its Marine department before the end of the year.

Viking SeaTech is a trusted international provider of marine solutions with more than 20 years’ experience in the world’s harshest environments. It is part of Actuant Corporation’s Energy Segment, which also includes joint integrity specialists Hydratight and synthetic ropes, cables and umbilicals provider Cortland.
