Well management and performance improvement specialist Exceed has announced a successful first quarter of the year, with significant new business being secured in Southeast Asia.
The Aberdeen-based company has won its first Malaysia-based contract for its performance improvement division, worth around US$600 000 (£400 000).
Performance coaches in this division work alongside client rig teams, developing front line solutions to optimise operational efficiency, reduce costs and eliminate waste. The three year call-off contract will see up to three members of Exceed personnel mobilised to the region.
Exceed’s well management division has also recently completed the first ever ultra-deepwater well in Myanmar, Southeast Asia. The well was drilled in water depths of 5800 ft, with the well planning commencing in February 2014 and the well drilled and completed by 31 March, 2015. The work, worth around US$8 million, involved a team of 24 over the past 13 months.
Exceed Canada has also bolstered the company’s international credentials, being proactively involved in the acceptance testing of a new build rig which is being purpose built to suit the increasingly harsh environment offshore Eastern Canada.

“A particular focus has been on inward investment, bringing in new and skilled people to support Exceed’s global expansion plans, with 12 new staff members taken on in the last year. This announcement follows the launch of Exceed’s new brand at the SPE/IADC Drilling Conference and Exhibition in London in March. Involvement in the exhibition also saw members of the Exceed team encourage conference delegates to support fundraising efforts for the company’s charitable trust.
The Exceed Trust recently pledged US$110 000 (£70 000) to build an orphanage in Ghana and during the exhibition, staff distributed building blocks to delegates as part of a ‘pay it forward’ initiative. Each block that was returned to the company’s stand was used to create a ‘Lego’ replica of the new orphanage and for every block returned, Exceed made a cash donation to the Trust.
Mr Mills continued: “As part of this event, we saw an opportunity to involve other delegates in the fantastic work of the Exceed Trust. We are immensely proud to support the build of this orphanage in Ghana, and give back to a country in which we have been working for several years.
“This was an innovative, visual way of connecting those attending the conference to a very worthy cause.”
