Kanadevia Inova, a global leader in solutions for the energy transition and circular economy, has acquired a controlling interest in the operating business of BioValue B.V., a leading Dutch biomethane specialist with capabilities spanning asset management, operations and maintenance, engineering, and construction management.

The strategic acquisition brings considerable industry capacities and expertise into Kanadevia Inova, giving the company a stronger Northern European foothold from which to upgrade and expand its fleet of biogas and biomethane plants. The move supports Kanadevia Inova’s vision of becoming a global utility and driver of decarbonising waste management infrastructure that improves circularity and energy resilience for communities worldwide.

The acquired business will operate under the name Kanadevia Inova BioValue. Through the newly formed company, Kanadevia Inova will hold a majority interest in the BioValue business, with the remaining stake held by a company owned by BioValue Founder, Ids Schaap. Schaap, will continue to lead the business as CEO, ensuring continuity while supporting its next phase of growth as part of Kanadevia Inova.

The deal foresees a highly experienced team of 23 biomethane specialists joining Kanadevia Inova, from asset managers through O&M professionals and engineering/construction experts. Several long-term service contracts and future engi-neering and construction contracts are included in the transaction. In parallel, Kanadevia Inova will acquire the remaining 15% stake in the Cothen biomethane plant.

The existing technical and management teams will continue to support customers, maintaining established relationships and service continuity while gaining access to Kanadevia Inova’s broader technology, engineering, and international capabilities.

Kanadevia Inova CEO, Bruno-Frederic Baudouin, said: “The BioValue team have demonstrated what they are capable of with some truly impressive results over the past 10 years. By bringing them into Kanadevia Inova, we are improving our offering to the market, we are strengthening our support for customers, and we are accelerating our contributions to decarbonisation, circularity and energy security on a more global level.”

BioValue has earned a strong reputation through the successful development, operation, and management of biomethane assets in the Netherlands, including the Cothen biomethane plant, a 90 000 tpy co-digestion facility producing 100 GWh of renewable energy that was commissioned in less than 16 months. BioValue combines in-house process engineering and operational expertise with a network of long-standing specialist partners, enabling it to deliver robust and cost-effective plant solutions while incorporating operational experience into each new project.

Kanadevia Inova BioValue CEO, Ids Schaap, added: “Joining forces with Kanadevia Inova is an exciting next step for BioValue. By combining our local biomethane expertise with Kanadevia Inova’s technology and international experience, we can accelerate our growth and deliver even greater value for customers. I am pleased to continue leading BioValue and our team into this next phase.”
