Aura Power has reached commercial operation on its 49.9 MW Grimsby solar farm and is exporting clean, renewable energy to the grid.
The solar farm is located between Aylesby and Healing in North East Lincolnshire and will generate enough electricity to power the equivalent of up to 27 000 homes, saving around 25 100 tpy of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere.
Grimsby solar farm is the company’s first solar farm to use tracking technology, allowing the panels to follow the sun throughout the day and maximise the amount of energy the solar farm can generate.
The project is delivering environmental benefits too, with over 5 km of new hedgerows planted and the remaining site-wide grass seeding due to be completed shortly, enabling sheep grazing across the site.
Aura Power has final snagging and testing to complete and expect to hand the site over to the Asset Management team in the coming months.
The company thanks all involved in the project, including the local community for their continued patience and co-operation. Aura Power is in the process of launching a community benefit fund and are looking forward to seeing how the fund supports local initiatives.
