Greenvolt Group, through Greenvolt Power, a leading developer of utility scale wind, solar, and battery energy storage projects, has secured €284 million in project financing for its 253.1 MW wind project in Gurbane?ti, east of Bucharest, Romania. The project, one of the largest of its kind in the country, is expected to reach commercial operation by the end of 2027.
The financing was structured with a syndicate of eight financial institutions: UniCredit S.p.A., Erste Group Bank AG, Banca Comerciala Româna S.A., Siemens Financial Services through Siemens Bank, Société Générale, BRD, ING Bank N.V., and Alpha Bank S.A.
Comprising 42 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 6.1 MW, the project will add significant new renewable generation capacity and contribute to the decarbonisation of Romania’s power system.
“Romania is an important market for Greenvolt, where we see strong long-term potential, and our investment in the country reflects that. Wind has been a particular focus, but our presence extends across technologies and business segments. Alongside our utility scale activities, we are also consolidating our presence in on-site renewable energy solutions for corporate and industrial clients,” said João Manso Neto, CEO of Greenvolt Group.
“Our ability to advance projects at this scale is supported by strong relationships with financial partners who understand our business and the quality assets we are developing. This financing is another example of that collaboration, reflecting our ability to find the right financing solutions for our projects,” added Adrian Góralski, Director of M&A and Project Finance at Greenvolt Power.
The Gurbane?ti wind farm is part of the broader Wind Rose platform (506 MW), one of the country’s most significant private renewable energy initiatives currently in progress, which also includes the 253.1 MW Ialomi?a wind project.
