Zeevonk, a joint venture wind farm in the Dutch North Sea between Vattenfall and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, has selected EEW Group to manufacture 69 monopile foundations for the first phase of the project.
These foundations use a transition-piece-less design. By mounting turbine towers directly onto the monopiles, the traditional transition piece is eliminated. This saves steel, reduces raw material consumption, and simplifies logistics and cuts carbon emissions during manufacturing and installation.
One of the foundations will also feature steel made with a high share of recycled material.
