Tavion, a Swedish energy company focused on developing, owning, and operating battery parks across Europe, has raised €34 million in an oversubscribed financing round led by Leitmotif and Oberon Capital, with participation from existing investors BackingMinds and Course Corrected VC. Combined with €16 million in debt financing, total new funding sums to €50 million.
The round accelerates Tavion’s development plan by one quarter, giving the company a head start as it enters the construction phase. The capital allows Tavion to complete construction of three battery parks in Poland with a combined capacity of 69 MW, with its first two parks planned to break ground in September.
“We can build, and we can build quickly. That is why the round came in above what we asked for – and this capital lets us keep our accelerated pace. We can buy the whole portfolio and start construction of three parks now instead of waiting until next year. This takes us out of PowerPoint and into the physical world, with cash flows behind the next phase,” said Emad Zand, CEO of Tavion.
The three parks are financed in part by equity and the newly secured €16 million debt facility. They form part of the 184 MW portfolio Tavion has at or close to ready-to-build stage in Poland. Across this portfolio, land, grid connection, and building permitting are secured or in the final phase, and a wider project pipeline of 1.7 GW in the country. The full build-out will require further debt and equity financing.
Poland has become one of Europe's most attractive energy storage markets. A rapidly rising share of renewables, coal phase-out, high price volatility and new support schemes are all driving demand for storage, while very few grid-connected batteries are in operation yet. Tavion sees comparable potential in several other European markets, where the same drivers are beginning to take effect. As moving first is critical to securing grid capacity and permits, the company is preparing its next market entries in parallel with the Polish build-out.
“Poland is electrifying rapidly while rebuilding its generation mix. Flexibility, delivered by batteries, is becoming a core building block of that system – for the grid and for industrial loads such as data centers. Reliable, affordable, and stable electricity will be the foundation of industrial competitiveness and energy security. Delivering value in these circumstances requires the experience, drive and focus that the Tavion team brings together, which is what motivated us to make this investment,” added Philipp Emig at Leitmotif.
“Having followed Tavion since before its first financing round, we have witnessed firsthand the exceptional growth and execution capabilities of the team. The company's progress has consistently reinforced our conviction in the business and its long-term potential. We believe Tavion has the opportunity to become one of the leading platforms in the sector,” commented Daniel Linnergren at Oberon Capital.
