Work has begun on a 20 MW park in Bydgoszcz, Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, with a second park in Lubon breaking ground within two weeks and a third to follow. Poland has one of Europe’s fastest-growing storage markets but almost no grid-connected batteries in operation, putting Tavion among the first to build at this scale.
The parks are financed through the €50 million in equity and debt Tavion raised in September 2026, and will connect to the Enea Operator distribution grid. The Bydgoszcz park is a two-hour system with 20 MW of grid connection and 40 MWh of installed storage, with Esix Polska as balance of plant contractor.
Emad Zand, CEO of Tavion, commented: “We had land, grid connection, and permits in place before the financing closed, which is why we can start two projects at once rather than one after another. Poland needs more flexibility in its grid now, and every month we save on the way to operation counts.”
Tavion was joined at the Bydgoszcz site by Enea Operator, balance of plant contractor, Esix Polska, BESS integrator, HyperStrong and owner’s engineer, Ayesa. CEO, Emad Zand, Chief Development Officer, Katarzyna Suchcicka, and COO, Mathieu Beunier, represented the company.
Katarzyna Suchcicka, Chief Development Officer and Country Head Poland at Tavion, noted: “Poland is adding renewables faster than it can store them. These parks will not close that gap, but they are among the first batteries in the country to actually be built. From here it is about delivery: grid connection in 2027, together with Esix Polska and Enea Operator.”
The two parks are part of the 184 MW portfolio Tavion has at or close to ready-to-build stage in Poland, within a wider project pipeline of 1.7 GW in the country. Demand for storage there is driven by a rising share of renewables, the coal phase-out, and high price volatility.
