Copilot Capital, the private equity firm focused on backing Europe’s most promising software companies, has made a majority investment in Green Eagle Solutions, a SaaS company building the technology behind autonomous renewable energy operations.

Green Eagle Solutions was founded in 2012 by Alejandro Cabrera and Juan Fernández, two software engineers who set out to automate the manual, round-the-clock operations that renewable control rooms run on.

Rather than build another monitoring tool for operators to act on, Cabrera and Fernández decided to automate operator actions, launching Green Eagle Solutions' flagship product, the ARSOS Automation Suite, in 2020. The platform unifies operational data and automates critical workflows, including fault handling, curtailments, and dispatch, giving clients full visibility into their fleet while the software itself carries out the response, so operators, asset managers, and energy traders no longer need to manually intervene around the clock. Today ARSOS is trusted by some of the world’s largest operators, driving increased production, lower cost and risk, and greater scalability.

The complexity of renewable energy operations has been increasing on every front. Portfolios are growing and now span multiple technologies, from wind and solar to hydro and batteries; energy prices are increasingly volatile; and regulations are expanding rapidly as renewables’ share of the grid grows.

The International Energy Agency (IEA) that global renewable power capacity will double between 2025 – 2030. As renewable energy deployment expands, these operational challenges are likely to intensify, making software increasingly important for automating processes, optimising asset performance, and managing increasingly complex renewable energy portfolios.

Cabrera and Fernández scaled the business before taking on its first investment in 2021. As Green Eagle continued to grow, the founders were regularly approached by prospective investors but selected Copilot Capital for its deep understanding of the business and its clear vision for the opportunities and direction ahead. Copilot Capital's track record with founder-led software businesses, combined with a concrete plan for where it could add value, gave the founders confidence they'd found not just capital, but a genuine partner for the business's next phase.

“When Copilot Capital first got in touch, it didn’t feel like another investor testing the water,” said Alejandro Cabrera, Co-Founder and CEO of Green Eagle Solu-tions. “They already understood our business, where we sat in the market, and had a real strategy for a company at exactly our stage. That told us this wasn’t just an opportunity to raise capital – it was an opportunity to bring on a partner who could help us get there faster. Together with Juan, I’m excited to keep building the autopilot for renewable energy operations, at a much greater scale.”

The partnership will enable Green Eagle to accelerate its international growth journey, particularly into the US, while building the operational foundations and go-to-market strategy to scale into a global champion. Reflecting this momentum, Green Eagle has already secured two of the country's largest power producers as customers. Product is also central to the plan – with Copilot’s support, Green Eagle will invest further in data and AI to deepen the capabilities of the ARSOS platform.

“Green Eagle Solutions is the ideal fit with Copilot’s strategy of backing fast growing software businesses and helping them become European software champions and category leaders around the world,” commented John Messer, Founder and Managing Partner of Copilot Capital.

Messer added, “The company is the only player in the renewable energy software space offering end-to-end control and automation, and it has already built an impressive international presence. We will help them with the expertise and growth funding to build out the go-to-market, especially in North America – the same formula we’ve used to help other founder-led software businesses scale internationally. We can’t wait to support Alejandro and Juan on that journey.”

“We started Green Eagle Solutions because we believed the energy transition needed more than better tools – it needed the manual, round-the-clock monitoring taken off people’s plates, so they could focus on the decisions that drive even more value,” stated Juan Fernández, Co-Founder of Green Eagle Solutions. “This investment gives us the resources to take that vision into new markets, starting with the US, while continuing to grow in Europe.”

Green Eagle Solutions marks Copilot Capital’s fifth and final investment from its first fund, following its majority stakes in Relesys, SecureFlag,PriceShape, and Zendr. A pan-European fund, it now has investments spanning the Nordics, the UK and Spain.

Messer concluded: “Investing this fund in just three years reflects the conviction we have in backing exceptional founders across Europe. From the Nordics to the UK and Spain, Copilot Capital was built to be genuinely pan-European from day one, and this fund is proof of that ambition.”
