Sunco Capital, an investment company focused on the energy sector with presence in Europe and Latin America, has initiated the construction of two solar photovoltaic plants located in the municipality of Manzanares, in Ciudad Real, Spain. The plants, totalling 83 MWp of installed capacity, will occupy a surface of 191 hectares.

The future annual generation of energy in both plants represents the consumption of more than 50 000 households, and will avoid emissions of 35 000 CO2 tpy. The energy will be sold through a long term PPA agreement with Shell Energy Europe Limited, a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell.

Sunco Capital has secured the financing for the design, construction, commissioning and operation of the plants with Banco Santander.

The construction will be finished in 2021. Once completed, these two plants will be the first operating assets owned by the company, representing a milestone in its strategic objective to contribute to the global efforts against climate change.

Sunco Capital controls a portfolio of solar photovoltaic projects of more than 2 GW in Europe and Latin America, and foresees a € 450 million investment in the 2020 – 2022 period to become a reference agent in these markets.
