A new video takes viewers inside one of the world’s largest solar parks, a plant located in Benban, Egypt.
The video includes exclusive footage of the plant from space.
The site extends over 37km2 and will generate 1.5 GW, enough to provide renewable energy to more than 1 million homes.
The EBRD is the project’s largest financier, having supported 16 of the 32 plots, all of which are now connected to the national grid.
All the plots are now operational.
In 2017, the EBRD took a major step forward to support the rollout of renewable energy in Egypt with the approval of a US$ 500 million framework for the development of Benban, the largest solar park on the African continent.
This project is supported by the Green Climate Fund, the European Union, and the donors to the SEMED MDA.
