Andusia Resource Recovery have announced that they have been confirmed as the sole waste supplier to a new Energy from Waste (EfW) plant currently under construction in Newport, South Wales, UK.
Construction of the plant starts early this year and is scheduled for completion in early 2022.
Andusia will be supplying a minimum of 220 000 tpy of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) under a 25-year deal. Once operational, the plant will provide enough energy to the grid to power 50 000 homes each year.
Fuel supply risk can lead developers to struggle to get the third-party financing they need to build a new plant. Andusia are able to pull waste from a number of different sources, spreading risk of supply and guaranteeing best value. Enabling developers to obtain the 10-year plus fixed price supply contract that is often required to gain investment.
