Limes Renewable Energy reaches ready-to-build status on its Hauñil BESS project

This is Limes’ first RTB milestone in Chile and its first RTB outside of Italy, and also the latest step in the group’s international growth strategy.

Located in the municipality of Salamanca, in the Coquimbo region, BESS Huañil will store energy from the National Electric System (SEN) with a capacity of up to 1000 MWh, allowing a constant injection of 200 MW for up to five hours. The project represents an estimated total investment of around US$188 million.

Since November 2025, Limes has secured three environmental approvals in Chile: BESS Huañil (200 MW), Pradera Larga (84 MWp solar PV + 90 MW BESS), and BESS Ganso (150 MW). BESS Huañil is the first of the three to reach RTB, with the other two advancing and nearing the same stage. The company’s Chilean pipeline continues to expand and includes approximately 180 MWp of solar PV and 620 MW of BESS.

Building on its proven track record, consolidated in Italy, Limes’ home market, this milestone is fully aligned with Limes’ vision of becoming a hybrid independent power producer (IPP), focusing on strategic partnerships and PPA negotiations as projects reach RTB stage. Between Chile and Italy, Limes’ fully authorised and RTB pipeline is over 600 MWp across two continents. In Italy, Limes has reached over 400 MWp across 25 projects, with a further 120 MW across six solar projects on track for authorisation before year-end.
