Taaleri Energia has inaugurated the Hallanvahti solar park in Joroinen, North Savo, together with the project partners, stakeholders, and local residents.
The Taaleri Solar Wind III Fund invested in the Hallanvahti project in February 2025, and the 129 MWp solar power plant commenced operations at the end of June 2026. Its 204 000 bifacial single-axis tracking solar panels are expected to generate approximately 140 GWh of electricity annually. This generation capacity makes Hallanvahti one of Finland’s largest solar power plants. The annual output corresponds to the electricity consumption of approximately 18 000 Finnish households. Funds managed by Taaleri Energia own the Hallanvahti solar power project in full.
Kai Rintala, Managing Director of Taaleri Energia, commented: “Hallanvahti is a particularly significant project for us in Finland due to its ambitious scale, technology, and rapid delivery schedule. Thanks to our highly skilled partners, the project progressed on schedule, with particular attention paid to environmental considerations throughout the construction process. The Hallanvahti solar park will supply a significant volume of clean energy to the Finnish electricity market, strengthening both national resilience and the vitality of the local economy.”
Hallanvahti is exceptional due to its location in challenging terrain. The approximately 200-ha. project site has been constructed on drained peatland covered by a layer of peat. The project aims to preserve the peat layer throughout construction and the solar park’s operational lifetime, while managing water flows effectively. Despite the demanding terrain, the required investigations and construction work progressed as planned.
The project was developed in collaboration with Taaleri Energia by Etec Automation and its subsidiary 3Flash Finland. Eltel Networks was responsible for the project’s engineering, procurement, and construction and will provide maintenance services for the solar park. The project has a long-term power purchase agreement with Oulun Energia and project financing from SEB. The EU supports the activities through the InvestEU Fund. The project has also received funding from the EU’s NextGenerationEU instrument.
Petri Isotalus, Investment Director at Taaleri Energia, concluded: “We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all our project partners for the excellent co-operation. Hallanvahti is an important project for Taaleri Energia’s fund investors, Finland’s energy transition and local energy self-sufficiency. As electricity demand grows, renewable energy generation capacity is becoming an increasingly important investment theme, and Hallanvahti is an excellent example of this.”
