RP Global acquires 22 MWp PV project from GAIA in Southwest Germany

Located along the A6 motorway corridor between Kaiserslautern and Mannheim in the Leiningerland area, the project marks another strategic addition to RP Global’s growing German renewables portfolio. Because of its location alongside the motorway, the site is a so-called privileged location, warranting EEG eligibility.

The solar park comprises three neighbouring sites in the municipalities of Hettenleidelheim, Tiefenthal, and Neuleiningen, spanning 17.9 ha. While ownership of the project is transferred to RP Global, GAIA, as the original project developer with extensive regional expertise, will continue to support the project’s optimisation.

Michael Wahl, Managing Director of GAIA, commented: “With the A6 Leiningerland project, we are pleased to bring another renewable energy project from our regional development pipeline to the next stage. As the initiator and original developer of the project, GAIA has accompanied its development from the early planning stages through permitting to ready-to-build status. The project demonstrates the potential for solar energy in Rhineland-Palatinate and the importance of making use of suitable sites along existing infrastructure corridors. We are delighted to continue supporting RP Global in the further optimisation of the project and to contribute our regional expertise to its successful realisation.”

Ray Zawalski, Country Manager Germany at RP Global, added: “With the A6 project, we have increased our pipeline of projects under construction to 87 MWp. In order to integrate the project into the market as effectively as possible, particularly with a view to the future EEG, we are collaborating with GAIA to add a battery storage system. This way, we aim to ensure that the project’s potential is fully realised, even in times of grid bottlenecks.”

With all key permits already secured, the project has reached ready-to-build status. Construction is scheduled to start in early 2027, with commissioning planned for 2H27.
