European Energy wins support for 89.6 MW in German wind tender

Securing support is an important step in developing and financing the projects, providing greater revenue visibility as they progress towards construction.

Johannes Thon, Managing Director of European Energy Germany, commented: “Germany continues to be an important investment market for European Energy. Securing support for almost 90 MW gives us greater visibility as we advance these projects towards construction and demonstrates the quality of the portfolio we have in the market.”

The four auction awards come as European Energy continues to expand its German development pipeline, including through new-build wind projects and the repowering of existing wind farms.

At the same time, Germany’s investment environment for future renewable energy projects is evolving. Planned changes to the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) from 2027 and to grid connection rules could affect the risk profile and financing conditions of new projects.

Thon added: “For investors and developers, predictability is fundamental. Renewable energy projects require substantial capital well before they reach operation, and investment decisions are made based on expectations about revenues, grid access, and the regulatory framework over many years. Germany has demonstrated that a stable auction framework can mobilise substantial private investment into renewable energy. As the framework evolves, it will be important to maintain the conditions that allow developers and investors to continue financing, building and operating projects at scale.”

The four projects will now continue through the next stages of development towards construction. European Energy has been active in Germany since 2005 and develops, constructs, and operates wind, solar, and battery storage projects across the country.
