RES, the world’s largest independent renewable energy company, has signed a major asset management contract with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) for a 392 MW wind farm near Constanța, in south-east Romania. The project is currently under construction and is expected to reach commercial operations in 2028.
Active in Romania since 2015 with headquarter in Constanta, RES Romanian team will support CIP through the construction phase and into operation, helping to ensure the Peștera II wind farm is set up for strong long-term performance.
The wind farm will generate enough clean electricity to power more than 500 000 Romanian homes each year once operational.
With more than 15 GW of renewable assets under management across 14 countries, RES has the scale, expertise, and international footprint to provide clients with a consistent, high-quality service wherever their assets are located. The award strengthens RES’ Asset Management business across Europe, following new contract wins in Greece, Belgium, Lithuania, and Italy earlier in 2026, while further extending its collaboration with CIP. In July 2025, RES was appointed asset manager for CIP’s 500 MW/1 GWh Coalburn I battery energy storage system in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, one of the largest battery storage projects in Europe.
RES’ asset management is backed by its operational control centres, including in Glasgow (Scotland), Albacete (Spain), and Denver, Colorado (US), which provide 24/7 monitoring and control of renewable assets for owners around the world. The centres help owners meet demanding compliance requirements while tracking performance closely and maximising energy production, extending the working life of each asset.
Juan Gutiérrez, CEO, Services at RES, commented: “Our growing partnership with CIP is focused on maximising the return from high-quality assets over their full lifetime. We bring together the scale of a global services business, including round-the-clock monitoring from our control centres. With our highly skilled team in Romania we can provide CIP with the commercial and technical support to keep availability high and costs under control from the day the wind farm starts generating.”
Niels Holst, Partner at CIP, added: “Romania has an important role to play in Europe’s energy transition, and the Peștera II wind farm will make a significant contribution to the country’s clean energy supply. RES brings deep asset management experience and a proven approach to getting new wind farms ready for operation, which will be valuable as we take the project from construction through to generation.”
