European Energy has reached commercial operation at the 27 MW Tsoukes Sarres wind park in Greece, completing the company’s first wind project in the country.
Located in the Municipal Unit of Avlida, across the regions of Voiotia and Evia, Tsoukes Sarres consists of six onshore wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 27 MW.
Construction of the wind park began in 2024 and has involved building in mountainous, rocky terrain at an elevation of approximately 700 m. Now in commercial operation, the wind park will supply renewable electricity to the Greek power grid.
Joanis Duraj, Director and Country Manager for European Energy in Greece, commented: “Bringing Tsoukes Sarres into commercial operation is an important step for European Energy in Greece. As our first operational wind project in the country, it demonstrates our ability to deliver renewable energy projects from development through construction and operation. We are proud of what our team and partners have achieved and look forward to building on this experience in Greece.”
Tsoukes Sarres is jointly owned by European Energy and Sampension. In December 2025, European Energy divested 50% of the project to the Danish pension company as part of the companies’ existing partnership in renewable energy investments across Europe.
Torbjørn Lange, Head of Real Estate & Infrastructure at Sampension, added: “It has been exciting to follow the development and construction of Tsoukes Sarres from the early stages through to commercial operation. The completion of the project marks an important milestone, and we look forward to following its performance in the years ahead. At the same time, we look forward to continuing our strong partnership with European Energy supporting the green transition and the development of renewable energy across Europe.”
The Greek market also presents opportunities for European Energy to expand its activities through transactions and partnerships with both local and international investors.
Thorvald Spangaard, Executive Vice President of Project Development in European Energy, concluded: “Greece is an attractive market for renewable energy investment, and we see opportunities both to develop projects ourselves and to grow through partnerships and transactions. Tsoukes Sarres and our partnership with Sampension demonstrate how we can bring together our development capabilities and long-term institutional capital, and we see potential to pursue similar opportunities as we mature our activities in Greece.”
European Energy has an established presence in Greece and is developing a broader portfolio of renewable energy projects in the country, within onshore wind, solar, and battery storage.
