Infinity Power, the largest African pure-play renewable energy provider, and Hassan Allam Utilities Energy, the renewable energy investment vehicle established by Hassan Allam Utilities, have signed the Notice to Proceed (NTP) for the Nefer Minya solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) project in West Minya, Egypt. The milestone marks the start of full-scope EPC construction on one of the country’s largest renewable energy developments.
The project comprises 1.2 GWp of solar PV capacity coupled with a 600 MWh BESS. Designed primarily as a load-shifting facility, the system will capture peak daytime solar generation, store it, and dispatch clean power during evening peak-demand periods. It will also enhance grid stability and optimise the integration of renewable energy into Egypt’s electricity network.
Following the signing of the power purchase agreement (PPA) in November 2025 and the launch of early construction works in June, the NTP represents a major project milestone. With full scale construction now set to commence, the project moves a significant step closer to its targeted commercial operation date of September 2027.
The project will be delivered by a joint venture between Hassan Allam Construction and Sterling & Wilson, drawing on extensive local and international expertise in executing utility scale renewable energy projects.
Mohamed Ismail Mansour, Co-Founder and Chairman of Infinity Power, commented: “The issuance of the NTP moves the Nefer Minya project from initial development into full scale construction, bringing us closer to delivering a project that will have a significant impact on Egypt’s energy landscape. Combining 1.2 GWp of solar capacity with 600 MWh of battery storage will enable reliable renewable power generation at scale while supporting grid stability and energy security. This milestone also represents further progress towards Infinity Power’s ambition of achieving 10 GW of operational renewable energy capacity by 2032.”
Nayer Fouad, Co-Founder and CEO of Infinity Power, added: “The signing of the NTP for Nefer Minya marks a defining milestone in the delivery of one of Egypt’s most significant renewable energy projects. Beyond its scale, the Nefer Minya project demonstrates how integrated solar and battery storage solutions can play a transformative role in building a more secure, sustainable, and resilient energy future for the country.”
Once operational, the project is expected to generate enough clean electricity to power approximately 1 419 237 homes annually and avoid around 1 593 600 tpy of CO2 emissions. By combining large scale solar generation with battery storage technology, the Nefer Minya project will help improve grid flexibility, strengthen energy security, and support Egypt’s long-term decarbonisation objectives.
